I've cross posted in the Wanted to Buy section that I need to obtain replacements for the springs in my 41 6267D trunk lid supports. They used to be stocked by Chevs of the 40s and The Filling Station but no more alas. :'(
(http://forums.cadillaclasalleclub.org/index.php?topic=144292.0).

As an example of the part, the Chevs of the 40s reproduction was: https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/9658/Chevrolet_Hold_Up_Release_Spring_Flat_316_At_Widest_Point.html.

Wondering meantime if anyone has come upon a workaround for replacing them with either something else or other sources?

Thanks
Scott

When all else fails, give Ed a call. You might also try Bob's Buicks  1940/41 Buick Super/Roadmaster.

I had already searched 'Bobs' catalogue when Scott first asked me. No luck there I'm afraid.

Barry, thanks for replying back. Your advice is exactly right. Ed doesn't have them either, even in 24K!  ;) ::)

I did check with Bobs' also. Always been good to deal with. In any case he doesn't have them either. Knew what I meant and mentioned that they somehow didn't seem to work well with the Brand B applications. Can't understand why as I believe these were universal.

Steve, of course you checked too and thank you :)

Is it you don't have any at all or the ones you have are not good?
If you have one, find a blacksmith or leaf spring shop, and they may be able to make or repair / retemper yours or guide you.

You might try Bruce Berghoff or Marty Watkins in Langhorn, PA. Wow, if Ed doesn't have them, they must be finally wearing out.

As a last resort, try a broomstick cut to a usable length. (Make sure it is by  Fleetwood.)

Scott,

About four years ago Steve Cooley Motors in Florida, phone 352-382-2271, had the spring you need, and Lou Quirch, phone 812-388-7538 bought one there. Steve bought out Charlie Babcock's inventory some time ago and added it to his own extensive stock.

I already had a spare spring, but could not figure out how to disassemble the support arm. Lou Quirch supplied that information to me for my 1940 LaSalle at that time.

Good luck shopping.
