Good Morning

I have a question I would like authenticated by the experts if possible.  I have been buying, selling and collecting Cadillacs since I was 14 and thought I knew most everything about Cadillacs.  However, last March I bought my first Seville and recently while reading "Cadillac at 100, Legacy of Leadership" it stated that in early 1975, Cadillac produced 2000 identical Sevilles to send out to the 1600 Cadillac dealerships before the regular 1976 production models came out.  Mine is the right color combination and has all the options and the manufacturing information on the drivers door says it was made in 04/1975.  The vin is 6S69R60451284.  Am I correct in thinking it is number 1283 out of the first 2000 made???

Thanks for any help.

You are correct that your car is an early build. The vin sequence started at xx450001. Probably correct also that the intro cars were all basically the same to insure production quality. Others I'm sure will post in with more definitive information.

From Wikipedia: " To ensure the quality of the initial production run of Sevilles, the first 2,000 units produced were identical in color (Georgian silver) and equipment. This enabled workers to "ramp up" to building different configurations." I have seen the same information from other sources as well.

You are correct!    All my books verify that the first Sevilles came out on April 22nd, 1975.   They hit the showrooms on May 1st.    The first 2000 were triple silver.    Sequence number 450001 and up.

Post some photos.  Would love to see it.
