I counld't find a topic on this so here I go:
Does any of you Gentleman has a good guide/ information about the replacement and adjustment of old drum breaks?
I have a 1940 LaSalle Coupe and want to adjust or change the breaks.
I am thankful for any tipp, hint or link.

Thanks and all the best,

This is all listed in the manual Mike. You should get one if you don't have one.  For normal adjustment there is a small slot in the bottom of the backplate. It takes a special tool but one can be fashioned by bending the end of a screwdriver. Inside this slot is a small toothed wheel that you have to turn to adjust the shoes in or out.  For major adjustment as in replacing the shoes or new linings one must loosen the large anchor bolt at the top of the brake plate and follow instructions in the manual.  This will also involve removing the drums. Rear brake drum which requires a special puller. Front drums come off complete with their bearings and hubs.
