I have the economy carrier and the pinion seal is leaking real bad. I figured the pressure outlet on the axle housing must be stopped so I looked for the valve or opening. The pinion seal is new. I am told there is an opening about 1" long and 1/8" wide for pressure relief. Where might I locate the opening? or is it a closed system? Thanks, Chet25441

The pressure relief opening on the axle housing is a slit-like hole on the top of the back of the round part of the middle of the axle housing.  If you email me at jaysfriedman@yahoo.com your email address I'll reply with a photo of it.

Thank you for your reply; if the hole had been any bigger I may never have found it. I had been looking on the axle housing instead of the carrier housing. I used a hacksaw blade and kept working it until I was able to get about 1 1/2" into the slot. Will test drive tomorrow and see if I solved my problem. Chet
