18,300 miles on trips good weather,  then stored properly from around 1972
driven only for service and upkeep till 05,   had 17,001 miles in 1975
never even had a new inspection sticker from 1970
note the seat covers and pillow done when new in correct material

this is a twin to the first Cadillac I have ever driven back in October 1969
been chasing one since 1972 never could find a really mint one as far back as 73

The owner had a matching pillow made for the car?

That's the kind of car I would like to buy to replace my '56 Sedan de Ville. However, a de Ville would be better suited to my taste, and not black, as I have already one...(the '57 Brougham)

Congrats!   It's gorgeous!

Beautiful car. I have one question, are the bumper guards on the front and rear a dealer item or did the original owner have them added? I see these from time to time on seventies Cadillacs. - Greg

Very, Very nice Bill,

I also had a triple black 1970 Fleetwood Brougham with the cloth / leather combo in this pattern. What a nice car. When you get too old to drive it, or get tired of it, please let me know.
Regards,
"Cadillac" Mike

bumper guards stay
I like the period correct look
no holes in bumpers or chrome damage would take half hour to remove them all

I have always wanted one black Cadillac for myself
bought 600 mile 76 eldo convert triple black kept one day sold to Richard sills
had many brand new ones post 1973
just unable to force  post 1970 car on myself

this is the first one I found worth keeping in all these years

Greg Powers

I like the cleaner look without the bumper guards. I think that they are a bit oversized for the proportions of the bumpers. I have a low milage 1970 Fleetwood Brougham with the gray all cloth interior. (First owner added coach lights as later models were designed with them.) I think the look is a bit cleaner without bumper guards. All a matter of preference. - Greg

nice car
in my area they all had the guards back when they were new
they come right off so if I want them gone no problem

wrefakis

bumper guards shown on 70 coupe for sale not far from me
they were on all these cars back in the day
period item

My red 70 DeVille had them on it and I couldn't wait to remove them.

They do mar the rear bumper even though they have the rubber strips on them to supposedly keep that from happening.

Personal preference and if they are there and you like them then they should stay.

Those bumper gards must have been a New York thing? Never saw them in Southern California. I started in a Cadillac store in 1976 and never saw them on any of our new or service customer cars.
I always thought that in New York traffic and parking they must have been a necessary evil.

I agree, I also thought these were for a city dwelling car.

These guards were helpful when parallel parking the car.........tap the front bumper then the back bumper....no harm no foul.

I agree 100% with Brian & Frank. They were nicknamed  NY city bumper over riders out here. I'm sure they did their job but at what cost to the esthetics of the car.  I had a car with them years ago. I couldn't wait to remove them. The last sound they heard was hitting the bottom of my scrap metal bin.
