hi there has anyone tried to locate replacement distributor advance counterweight springs? cannot find new ones anywhere.any help would be great
its a 390 1961 deville.the old ones have lost tension.

Less tension as in none or just looser than you think they should be?

Lighter springs give you better performance allowing the advance weights to work at lower RPM's.
Does the car ping and advance too much too quickly?

For stock-like performance you will probably want to use the heaviest springs that come with the kit.  If you have a '61 Cadillac shop manual (readily available on eBay Motors) and a timing light, you can fine tune your advance for slightly better performance but be careful of pinging.

If you can find someone with a distributor test machine, they can test your dist. and tell you if the springs are good or not.   You have to pull it out though and take to their shop.
