Hey guys,
this is Mike.
A friend of mine who's owning a 1940 LaSalle Sedan is asking if and where he could get a new (or used in good shape) "cylinderhead heating". I am not sure if that is the right expression, so I added a picture.
What does this thing actually do, can you overhaul it?

Thank you guys,
Mike

Beginning in in the late '30s Ford V8s used a similar hot water shut off valve.  I had one in a Ford I used to own.  Here is a new one for sale by Mac's Auto Parts in New York.

It might work on your friend's LaSalle.
