39 LaSalle gearbox

Finally got the Lasalle on the road and it drives like a boat!   We tried adjusting the gearbox but it appears to bottomed out of adjustment.    So, what are my options, does anyone make a rebuild kit for these or does anyone know of a place to get them rebuilt?

Hmmmm, I thought he was talking about the steering gear box.  Not that I could help in either regard.

A bit more detail about the specifics of the problem would better help people provide some sort of answer.  Those transmissions are really very simple and seldom cause any problems.  The linkage however needs to be adjusted properly.

Yes , the steering gearbox...we can turn steering wheel almost 180 degrees before the arm starts to move in either directuon.

I would dismantle it first to ascertain why the large play.     No rebuild kit but there is a company who rebuilds them. Cheaper probably to find a used replacement.  AllCads will be expensive but may have one cheaper than a re-build
