Hello! I'm new to this sight. I figured Id see if anyone could help me identify what model and year this Cadillac is?? The vin number seems to be an odd one from what I've read. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jack. What you have there is a 1937 Cadillac 60 series opera coupe. Model number 6027. Chassis number was odd in 37, they supplemented the first and second number for a 'B'  so your original engine number would have been 603793. These cars were registered on their engine numbers not the chassis number. Engine number is near the base of the distributor on the bell housing IF, you have the original motor?

After owning them for decades >:D  Seriously though. That number 6B was 1937 only and only for the 60 series.  Anyone will recognise the body style.    I have had a few and still have two.

Great! thanks! Now I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth restoring or make it a custom being the shape that's its in...

oldcarguy

Well, what about the rest of the car? Do you have the front clip [grill, hood, fenders, etc,] And motor which will have to be rebuilt, if it is rebuildable! And the list goes on and on...To get back to an original will be a very costly deal, but you already knew that.
I do love that coupe and it would be a beauty!

Well after spending the better part of a day looking for parts I've come to the conclusion It'd probably be better to make it a hot rod or sell it.. The parts are hard to find! Its missing front fenders and grill, engine, tranny, and more... Definitely and undertaking!!

Steve Passmore

Fenders turn up sometimes and the grills are on eBay quite frequently. Engines are easy to come by but the hardest things to find will be the transmission and all the other trim parts. Trans was floor change one year only and all the 'Rodders' have most of them. Things like lights and lens will also be elusive.
Your only hope would be to find a sedan parts car but even then the cost of restoring it will vastly outweigh the finished value. If all you have is what's in the picture I'm sad to admit it's not viable.

As to finished values. There's this 38 coupe (same body) at $22,000. Not perfect but shows the ceiling you would be working under with re-building costs.

Awwww , here's a vote for hot rod. This is the Cadillac & LaSalle Club forum. Stay on the smilin' side of us and keep Cadillac power. You can build a 500 to whatever level you desire with available parts. The 472/500 Cad is actually lighter than a 454. You can make that coupe a real work of art. And retaining the heart and soul of Cadillac , you can take pride in CLC Modified Class. We would love to follow your progress.  Others here have made similar great all-Cadillac cruisers. Welcome !  - Carl
