Exhaust System Supplier???
« on: April 22, 2017, 07:59:55 AM »
I need suggestions on who to call for an exhaust system for my 1976 Mirage (Coupe deVille). Couple of places I tried need 4-8 weeks lead time and the car is on the lift in a shop now and I cant wait that long. Its a standard 76 Coupe deVille exhaust. I'd like to do a catback system with or without the resonator but would do the whole thing if thats how to get faster.

I've tried Waldrons, and USA Parts Supply already.

Thanks for all leads

Jeff

Try classic exhaust in Ohio
I've bought from them before and they are good vendors.

Brian no luck with Classic Exhaust.  They dont offer it

Bobby no go with Borla. They dont offer it. Waldrons does but is currently working on a 5-8 week lead time.

Anybody else?

Hi, Jeff - have you considered a local custom exhaust shop? I am incredibly satisfied with the work done by one near me; so far they've done a complete manifold-back aluminized dual system for my Toronado and a converter-back dual system for my Lincoln. The pipes are bent and fitted on the spot and the workmanship is impressive. With high-quality Walker mufflers and resonators these ran about $550-600 iirc. Best of all, this work took only a couple days' notice and was completed in two days each. They will soon be doing another for my '59 CDV; I don't think Midas will honor any warranty on the 1973 system under there presently...  :)   While Hall's Auto may be too far away to help you, I bet the muscle car mavens in your area can point you toward the local exhaust tubing artists.

It looks like a local shop may have to be the answer here. Just surprised these systems are not more readily available with a shorter lead time.......

In any case I hope you get rid of the original "bucket of gravel" Cat converter,
which is a clumsy piece and reduces performance/economy.  A 3" monolithic
converter has all the advantages including being legal.  Used on my 79 Eldo,
with lifetime 304 stainless.
