The undercarriage of my 59 is original. Pretty nice shape, mostly original red oxide but some surface rust showing through.

I wanted to protect it but didn't really want to change the look so I sprayed the entire undercarriage and floor pan with satin clear coat.

Also bought a few cans of fluid film to spray inside the doors/fenders/quarters but didn't use it yet.

I wash my car with water but dry it immediately after with a leaf blower.

POR 15 is probably the best product you can use for the rust proofing your car, and being able to coat over rust in hard to reach places without the rust progressing. It basically stops rust in its tracks.

Hence POR is short for "Paint Over Rust" I used this stuff on the inner fenders under the hood of my 64 SDV since surface rust was getting worse. I sanded much of the surface as possible and got a paint brush and gently coated the entire surface with it. This has been over a year ago, and the stuff hasn't cracked, faded, or come off. It's extremely durable and won't allow any moisture into the metal as the product completely seals the metal from any moisture compared to paintable, oil-based products that can crack, peel and fall off over time. The rust hasn't come back, so far so good. 8)

The only problem is a small quart in a can is like $45! But you really don't need a lot of coats. 2 is enough, so a small quart can last you awhile if you are conservative with your application.
