Any chance someone out there would be kind enough to post a photo of the throttle return spring bracket on a flathead engine.  There doesn't seem to be a picture or drawing of one in the Parts or Repair Manuals I have.  Once I know what it looks like I'm sure I can make one.  I'm guessing it attaches to one of the bolts on the crossover pipe?

There is a cobbled up mess, wire looped around the distributor shaft, there now.  I'm sure the original would have been much more elegant on a 1940 LaSalle.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Wes: Although the pictures below are from a 47 and a 41, the bracket location and spring should be fairly close to the same for the 40. The bracket should be easy to make and is attached under the left rear cross over exhaust bolt at about a 60 degree angle so as to make a straight line for the return spring from the end of that bracket to the carb. Bill,
Wow!  That was quick.  Thanks so very much.  That's about how I imagined it.  I'm sure I can make something to resemble this bracket without much fuss.

I appreciate your help.  Thanks again.
