40 Lasalle heater/defroster switch

My fan will run occasionally but I have to mess with the switch. Can you take that switch apart and clean the contacts ?

Before you take the thing apart, why not purchase some electrical cleaner in a spray can and see if that cleans it up. I do that now and then on my window switches. Saves an AWFUL lot of trouble... The spray evaporates quickly so you can really soak the part without hurting anything.

I don't recall any parts diagram but the wiring diagram is very physical ands helps keep things straight.  Be very careful noting the orientation of parts involving the indicator light.  It is easy to get it backwards so it is on when the switch is off and off when on.  This is all assuming you have the standard heater and not the underseat heater which has 3 simple switches.

I do have the standard heater. Did not know it head a light.

The small bulb is in the underside of the switch operating handle. Go very careful with these switches. There are two rheostats, one each side. Fracture the coil wires in these and it's game over.
