I just am completing my engine rebuild and see this tag that I don't remember where it came off of. I know it's not the carb.  Anybody recognize it from the engine compartment?
Thanks,
Chuck

That does make sense but I don't recall undoing a screw off the fuel pump when I removed it from the car. Interesting...
Do those stamping numbers mean anything to GM or Cadillac or are they just an aftermarket replacement number? Is there even a reason to put this back on the car someplace for authenticity sake in the first place? Probably just my being type "A" again!

Don't know Chuck.  Don't throw it away because someone may come up with a better answer.  Did you have the carb apart?  Maybe it is an aftermarket carb rebuilder's P/N?

It looks like a fuel pump tag to me.  Look at this picture of 55/56 engine with fuel pump carrying such a tag...

I'm thinking it's got to be the brake unit as I didn't touch anything from the fuel pump but did with the brake unit when taking the engine out. The photo of the MC from Jose looks spot on.
Many thanks for weighing in everyone!
