Has anyone the Delco-Remy distributor number for a '55 Cadillac 331? Has anyone had one "upgraded" with lighter springs/weights?

Jay Friedman

The model number of a '55 Delco distributor is 1110852.

Lightening the weight of the centrifical weights, usually by filing them, will make change the distributor's advance curve at higher speeds.  Don't if that is a good thing to do or not.

Thanks Jay, I've had "breakup" issues when accelerating moderately to hard. My '55 has been modified a bit (headers, Isky cam, 365 intake and carb.) and I've read that the stock '55 distributor was pretty "lethargic". It's been rebuilt and has a Pertronix Unit installed.
