does anybody know the color of the wires that go to the antenna in a 1956 cadillac conv

If you have the Service Manual under Section 13 Chassis and Electrical Fig. 13-8 will show the color code down is dark blue and up and dark green on both from the radio switch and at the antenna.

The 56 antenna is a hen's tooth.  If you have a good one, your in luck...  I did a post on a rebuild of the antenna on this forum a year or so ago...  The wire colors continue onto the motor.
