53 Fleetwood--original tank rusted on bottom near drain--several pin holes. Decided to keep old tank, and replace with a new tank. Purchased one from Auto City Classic in MN. Compared details to old tank and found to be a very decent repro. It came with a "galvanized coating" as they explained. Not galvanized metal as we know it, but a coating of some sort, colored light grey. They said it was ready to install as is. Original tank on the car was heavily undercoated. Getting fussy and thinking the tank would look better black and hold up better, I called Eastwood, and they recommended their 2K epoxy primer, then a coat of2K Ceramic Chassis Black Satin.

Looking for any suggestions, recommendations, or comments on what I should do--types of paints, don't paint, installation pointers, etc.

Thanks,
Bruce Dennis

I got mine from auto city classics too.  I called my friend at his body shop and asked him when he was painting his next car.  I brought tank down (after light scuffing with a grey pad) and when he had the clear coat out, he pained my tank.  Looks awesome :)

I have one in my '65 too, and installed as is 5 years ago, and that one looks great too, but won't wash off dirt as easily.  Chuck
