I own this 1959 Cadillac pictured below. I would like to know how to change the ignition switch without removing the entire dash. Any help would be very much appreciated.

59-in-pieces

Did you Photo Shop that color.

Yes, but it is a "B" Kitty and you need hands like Billy Barty (really small).
Remove the outer knob with an Allen Key (wrench) - don't loose the screw.
If your car ha fog lights, pull off the notch concentric ring.
The "light" bezzle up against the dash pad of the nissel needs to be unscrewed.

SMALL HANDS PART:
There will be 2 wire harnesses - if you have fog lights - unplug the plastic harness connectors (one long flat the other square) at the ends of the wires from the switch.

Why do you  think it needs to be replaced or repaired.

HOWEVER avoid the frustrations and pull the dash pad - screws along the leading edge - three spring loaded clips at the mating edge of the dash pad against the windshield hold it in place - pull up at front (if you can get your hands underneath (prop open with 2X4), pull the switch - if not, detach the three clips and pull off pad - unless you have an Autronic Eye, (no connector at the Eye) then disconnect its shielded wires, which comes up from the control box in the "D" side kick panel.

Have fun,
