Does anyone know of any resource that has scans or PDFs of the original Cadillac shop manuals? I plan on buying one for my 68 eventually, but it would be nice if I could access a digital one for now. My Google-Fu did not return positive results

That is for the CD only if I read it right.  CDs are OK but not so convenient if your computer isn't right there where you are working.

Reprints are OK too but the originals as a general rule have much clearer illustrations.  Here is a link to an original shop manual, it is a little "rough around the edges" but the price is more than right.  If I were looking for one I would jump on it now!

The CDs work great for me
I have them on both my computer and my phone. If I want to print anything out to write on, etc I just print the pages I need. You can put it on a thumb drive too so you can have one at home, 1 on your phone and keep 1 in the car if needed.

Ok, I want to get a printed book but I was just hoping there was something I could download rather than wait for shipping a CD, even if there was an ebook I'd buy that. I will just wait and buy the print book i guess

The cd has a PDF file on it. Simply copy to your PC then copy, send or download to your mobile device. I’ve got the 1963 and 1964 Shop Manual along with latest issue of the S-S and prior favorite issues on my iPhone in the iBooks folder.  I’ve attached s screen shot of a few of them.
OK, back to the April S-S on the Elliptical at the gym.

I do 3 flavors of Shop Manuals
1) PDF Version on the Smartphone - allows me to instantly search, screen shot, text, email, share, etc

2) Pristine Original Bookshelf Version - for reading and perusing with clean hands from the office.

3) What I call an "Ultimate Workbench Companion" - this is one that is complete, pages are in good condition, but was coming apart at the binding and has been transferred to clear protective sleeves and placed in a large 3 ring notebook. That way you can remove the pages as needed and have right there as your work with greasy hands and all and do not have to work about getting the pages dirty. Simply wipe the protective sleeve clean and place back in the notebook when finished. This also makes scanning original individual pages easier since you can remove the page from the sleeve, scan and return. These are also the Shop Manuals you can often find for $15 to $20 on eBay and this is a great way to repurpose them and give them a 2nd life.

For more info on making your own "Ultimate Workbench Companion" with visuals check out this article on the 1963/64 Cadillac Chapter Help Page: http://6364cadillac.ning.com/profiles/blogs/shop-manuals-create-the-ultimate-workbench-companion

So.. the 4th type of Shop Manual out there that I have no use for, is the paper reprints. They do not have the detailed resolution of the originals which makes looking at wiring schematics, and other small print difficult at best.

Has to do with that little thing called copyright law.

True, but often things like this are scanned for archival or historical preservation. Such as with this site:

The CD are bot manuals already scan and they are searchable and much cheaper than having the manuals re-scanned again.

Absolutely! And that is why I do not share my bought digital copy of my Shop Manuals. It is for personal use only. It would take me all of 30 seconds to load to my Box.com and give everyone here a link to download.. but that would be unethical and illegal. I haven't played any rotating platter, whether it be a CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, etc. in probably a decade. I make my personal copy and put the bought licensed copy for personal use up in safe storage.
