I just bought a '37 LaSalle 5019. I love it. It drives well, lots of power, and aside from the beautiful basic shape, has so many cool details.
It's painted an approximation of the Ricardo Maroon that was available that year (see attached). Wheels are painted to match. I need new tires, so I plan to have the wheels painted a bright red, like the Flare Red wheels maroon cars are supposed to have. I understand the wheels are supposed to be pinstriped, but there doesn't seem to be much info about the color, placement, width, or spacing of the pinstripes.
Rather than pin stripes (or nothing), is there a correct large wheel cover to mount, other than the dog dishes? I see '37's with larger covers, but I assumed they're either from a different year LaSalle, or owners are putting LaSalle medallions in the middle of Cadillac wheel covers.
Please advise.

Beautiful car. If  an option for the year, have you considered chrome trim rings (or beauty rings) on the wheels? Dresses them up nicely. When you purchase your tires, have them put the wheel weights on the inside.

I think that's what they do. fit large with the LaSalle medallions.  You must be sure to get the correct for your series or they don't fit in the wheel.

Suchan,

The large Wheel covers were an option on the 1937 LaSalle. I have them on my 37 LaSalle Opera Couple and like the look.

I checked the GM Heritage Center, and the options packages they list for '37 LaSalles include either trim rings, or "wheel discs", but not both in the same package. I'm guessing the wheel discs are the wheel covers John W. mentions. I couldn't find any of the LaSalle wheel discs online, but I checked prices on Caddy covers. Yikes! I think I'll stick to dog dishes and trim rings for now.
Thanks for the responses.

They look pretty good with the trim rings. I too like the full discs, but just going to keep it as it came from the factory.

That's a great look. Thanks for the photo. It's not hard to figure why vintage tire stores often advertise their WWW's on red rims.
