I'm in the process of removing my dash for a repaint and I'm getting ready to start pulling my hair out because I can't remove the dash head-light switch. The shaft has a flat side on it which makes me think there's a set screw, but there's not. The small part that the shaft goes through looks to be 6 sided, like an allen wrench would be. But I can't get the darn shaft out. Any ideas guys? TIA.

I remember reaching behind the dash and pushing in a metal spring (on the switch), which releases the knob & shaft.  You pull it out and the mounting nut is exposed.

Thank you sir. I'll play with it tomorrow. I was getting ready to get out a sledge! Again, thank you.
