1968 Deville body mounts
«

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have a 1968 Deville I'm working on for a customer. My first Cadillac. The body mount bolts, bushings and captive nuts in the center of the car along the rocker seem to be missing. There are access holes in the frame and corresponding holes in the body. The other mounts are there and it doesn't appear the body has ever been removed from the frame. Are there supposed to be bushings there? Scratching my head.
Thanks,
Ed Cowen

Not entirely sure, but it is possible there are no mounts there, if is the swme set up on both sides, I would say no. You need a Fisher body manual as a guide here. Not a convertible? Btw, welcome to the forum, lotta sharp people here.

Thanks, I'm thinking they were never there, at least on this particular car.

Here are the details from the shop manual.
Best regards,

The middle bushing spanning the wheels along the rocker is a compression only, held in place so it cannot escape, but not compressed by a 7/16" bolt like the other 12 along the frame side rails and rear axle.
There is a center radiator body mount and one under battery and other side if it were a dual battery car.
The back four rear and the very front three seem to be the ones that go first and create the most rattles. I wrote an article on how to replace them if interested, let me know.

No bolts, that would explain the absence of the nuts....maybe they fell out or were removed at some point. Thanks
