My capillary tube snapped into when I was removing the engine on a 37 series 75.  Is it separate from the gauge?  Suggestions on a replacement or repair?

In a word. NO.   These tubes are sealed into the gauge, and once broken, I am pretty sure that they cannot be repaired, but there may be someone out there that specialises in recalibrating them.

When I have had a broken one, I simply change to an electrical unit, but that loses originality.

The internet is full of ways to repair them by using a Doner capillary tube with one end in freezing water to condense the gas but I bet there are firms in the US who will repair them.

They are not separate from the gauge and require great care when handling.
There are several places that repair/replace the Bourdon tube (capillary tube), I have had 2 done over the years.  My shop of choice is Instrument Services in Machesney Park, ILL.  They repaired the old style gauges with broken tubes in both my '35 Cadillac and my '50 Jaguar Mark V.
