Richard photographed some of my cars a few years ago and they are supposed to be in the book.

I have not received my copy yet.

My car is also in the book. As of right now, the website is still not completed, but it should be up and running in about two weeks; then books can be ordered directly from the website - http://www.lentinello.com.

I wouldn't buy a book from that man if it were the last book published on earth!

Sorry you had a bad experience. I have found Richard to be a very professional and personable individual. He has always been most hospitable.

The negative comments are interesting.  I have read him over the years and enjoy reading his columns. How would his book be any different than the "several" coffee table books on Cadillac (and Packard) that are out there?

I prefer my automotive books to be history lessons with well researched content that I find interesting to read.  The coffee table books end up at 1/2 Price Book Store.

Hemmings is dying a slow death, sadly.  I used to subscribe to their Sports and Exotic Cars magazine. Who could complain for $12 a year!  Then they closed it down last year.

I could not afford or justify a Hemmings subscription during it's glory years at what? $40 to $50 a year.  but they offered it to me for $25 and I bit.  I like it OK, but some months I literally throw away with only spending 15 minutes in it.

So, my recommendation to Richard is to treat every customer as golden, including periodic follow ups even if to state you are not using your car.  I know the editor of the Buick Club magazine Pete Phillips, and he states he has content for the next 5 + years.

I have had some interaction with Richard and have always found him to be a real gentleman.
Editing and finding space for the vast numbers of cars that they encounter must be difficult. They only feature a handful in each magazine so I'm sure the selection process is difficult.

As collectors we would all like to see our cars recognized in print. Including me.

I'm hoping that the cars that Richard photographed were used in his book. If no

I wouldn't buy a book from that man if it were the last book published on earth!

My car had been highlighted in the Hemmings Classic Car Magazine February 2007 after attending the Capital Cadillac event October 2006. I was contacted for the article by a Hemmings writer who attended the event. He indicated interest in doing a feature article in the future. Then after attending the AACA Grand National in New Bern, NC, Richard featured a 1962 BelAir that was right next to me at the show. Don't get me wrong, the car looked nice but had it's issues that the owner pointed out to me himself. Upon contacting Richard about my car being next to the BelAir and the Hemmings writer's previous indication of interest, he responded, "What makes your car so special?" I was a bit taken back with that condescending comment considering the previous indicated interest but I told him. I never heard back but I did get an apology from the original writer. Richard came across like he had some Demi-God complex. I have no time for that kind of attitude. We should treat each other with respect and I always try to do the same.

I just saw your post and need to clarify a few facts:  At the AACA meet in New Bern we did not write a feature on any 1962 Bel Air. All we did was take a single photo of that Chevrolet and include it in our coverage of that event; that was it. More importantly, asking a car owner, "What makes your car so special", is not a condescending comment. I never look down on any car as I appreciate all collector cars regardless of their rarity or value. The reason we ask car owners to tell us what's special about their cars is in order to learn more about it, and to see if that car will make an interesting feature in our magazine. We are inquiring to know if the car in question is original or restored; is it a one-owner car or a one-family-owned car; is a special-order model; does it still wear its original paint and/or upholstery; which particularly rare or interesting options does it have: is it an unusual model; or does it have an unusual color. Perhaps it's been driven a million miles, or had been restored by the car owner himself. This is why we ask car owners to tell us what is special about their cars.

I just bought Cadillac Style and found it to be an excellent book.  I have communicated with Mr. Lentinello regarding a submission to Hemmings Classic Cars and found him pleasant to deal with.

Have subscribed to Hemmings Motor News since 1973 or 74 and still enjoy it every month, mostly looking at cars for sale I have to have but due to no more garage space and wifely objections I'll never get.  I also think it's still the best way to keep up with the old car parts market.
