I'm looking for a replacement fuel pump that will pass judging. Arthur Gould can't rebuild it because it has a crimped seam. So I either need another rebuilder that can handle the crimped seam or I need to find a new one that will pass judging. I've found several companies that have pumps but not sure they'll pass. I've spent a lot of time and money to keep it as original as I can so I need a little help. It's a 67 429 Coupe DeVille A/C car.

Thoughts,

Jim

Look for an NOS or used AC pump.  Try E-Bay.  The
pumps with the rolled seam were not meant to be
rebuilt.

If you find a used one, (or even NOS) send it Art Gould
for a rebuild.  Even an NOS one that old will have the old
style diaphragm that will fail due to the alcohol blended
gas.

Mike,
I have seen a couple NOS or slightly used but they are all crimped seam type pumps and Art Gould won't touch them. Does someone else have a source that can re-crimp the joint?
Worst case is I just order a replacement through a USA cadillac parts.

In the meantime I checked around and I found that
the last year for the rebuildable pumps (with screws
holding the two halves together) was 1965.  After
that, GM switched to pumps with the folded over seam
that are not rebuildable.

You might as well pick up a repro from USA or
wherever you wish.  They go for $50-$60.

Great information Mike. I'm going with that but will keep my old one. Maybe the deduction won't be too bad..

Thanks
