I am in the process of detailing the front of the engine on my 1957 Eldorado Seville and I'm not sure of the correct color for the front A/C bracket (black or engine color).  I have not found the answer in the Authenticity Manual and wonder if there are any original examples out there for guidance.

From what I've seen with later models with the same engine (59-62), the cast parts that mated to the block/heads were engine color.  The plates that attached to the compressor and the cast parts that held the compressor in place and allowed for adjustment, were gold cadmium plated.

Dave,

The bracket front and rear would be black same color as the compressor (at least the ones I've seen), I do not believe the bracket(s) color change for any of the high end models.  ???

Good luck.!

Thanks for the info!  My bracket was black but some of the other parts (power steering pulley and mounting bracket, water pump & pulley) were incorrectly painted some time in the past.  I'm hoping to get the car ready for the Dayton Concours d'Elegance on Sep 16 where Cadillac will be one of the featured marques.

Pick up a copy of the authenticity manual.   $40 well spent.

I can only tell you that on a 60 that bracket is engine blue.
