Hello, Anyone out there with a 40 Lasalle 50 series sedan or coupe: can you measure the length of the prop holding the trunklid open when it is closed and when it is open. I know these extend "telescopically", like an antenna. Coupes and sedans have different length props. Also could you post a picture of the brackets attaching it to the trunk and the body.

The prop that holds up the back window/liftgate of my 40 Lasalle woodie was gone when I got it. I need to figure out what will work before I post a "want to buy" ad. Thanks, Tom

We have the 1940 Lasalle 5227 coupe.  This one has the long trunklid with 2 prop rods.  I can get photos of them, if this would help you?

Try to locate your part number in the parts manual Group 31.  You may find a part from Buick or Chevy may work.

If it's for a woodie as stated there will be nothing in the MPB for that.

Too much fun is more than you can have.

Thanks guys for your responses. Art, your pictures were helpful. Thanks for the offer of the part but I need one with a working ratchet mechanism. Grayle, based on Art's pictures I think I need a shorter one from a sedan rather than the longer one from a coupe. Thank you but I will not need pictures of yours. And Bob, just now I responded to your PM.
