Cape Cod Fleetwood

After a 4 month delay from the original order time, the first $359 battery physically broke during installation.
Battery Central Mall replaced it eventually after I sent it back.

The replacement battery failed after a week, they'll send me another one.

I don't want another one, I want my money back. And there's not a consumer protection
office in any state's AG office that won't agree with me.

My AmEx was refunded this week after I sent the 2nd battery back a few weeks ago.

I'll never do another 'replica' battery, others swear by them and have no issues. Whatever.

I do have to credit Wayne Cunningham at Battery Central Mall who went to bat for me every time
with the replacement and the refund. Great customer service on that end.

I'll stay with the wetcells God intended for the 1970. YMMV.

I have no idea what the proper battery is for your car, and I usually just use Die Hard from Sears (I guess I will have to rethink that in light of the Sears BK), but has anyone pointed out that they make these covers?

Proper battery for the 1970 Fleetwood is a Group 27, 12v, wet cell, minimum 800 CCA, top posts and the closest one on sale and made by Johnson Controls. IE DieHard, Duralast, Advanced Auto Parts, etc.

I loved DieHard batteries, they were all I ever used in all my Caddy's, my dad (RIP) swore by them as well. But with Sears about to go Tango Uniform, the Duralast Gold is the way to go, IMHO. If AAP was having a better sale on the same battery, I'd deploy my Veterans discount there instead. They're all the same.

Redundance and repugnance are cherished traits.  :-*

Lots of folks use those battery toppers, I'm about to be one of them.

Agreed!
The Duralast Gold is cheaper, has a longer warranty, and is made by the same company.

Has anyone found a cover for the top post R71 battery that came in the 1967 Eldorado?
