Does anyone have a source for 67-76 Eldorado left rear caliper and parts. It appears all across the country that there are no available rebuilt units. You can still get the right rear components but not the left rear. Is there any small time rebuilders that anyone knows of supplying these parts? Has anyone tried to remove the emergency brake mechanism from the piston with successful results? Thank you!

You might check late 60s Toronado, but I suspect it has drum rears.
If all else fails, it would be a chance to upgrade to early 70s Eldo
brakes which are far more common.  Personally if early 70s Toro
used rear drums, I would chose this much less troublesome system.
good luck,

Hello Tom:

I'm a bit confused by your post.  What year Eldorado
do you have?  I have a 1973 and it has disc brakes
in front and drums in the rear.

If your are looking for rear stuff the year range you should be looking for is 76-78.   The reason they can be tricky to find is they are often used for rear disc conversions on trucks.  Years ago the valuable part was the parking brake brackets since they didn't come with rebuilt exchange calipers.  The conversion people pretty much used up all the old stock but there are now people making new calipers with the brackets so they should not be that hard to find and won't likely be as cheap as a rebuilt one.

What are you asking about the e brake mechanism?  The arms and brackets unbolt and historically didn't come with a rebuilt caliper.   Are you wondering if you can just not have the e brake?  I believe the physical dimensions of the caliper were the same front and rear just the bore was a little smaller on the back.
