Guys,
Is there a pressure relief valve in these pumps? Where is it & can it be adjusted?? Would it cause excessive output pressure?

Thanks, Bob

No valve Bob. Pressure is neutralized just by the actuating arm being unable to spring back up with the diaphragm when the chamber is filled with fuel. Pressure is governed just by the diaphragm spring strength.

Rebuilding with the wrong spring will cause too much or too little pressure, even though the spring may fit okay. Even with a quality rebuilder this error can occur. It gave me fits with carburetor flooding on my 49 Coupe DeVille until a friend mentioned the spring problem. If your problem is with a pump that was producing correct pressure (3 to 4.5 psi for a flathead V-8) but is now producing too much, I would like to know what is the cause, when you find it.

Guys,
Thanks for all your comments. The problem was a switching of  a gas line & a vacuum line. Mechanic error!!
