Occasionally, an advertisement  for a Master Parts List or an Interchange Parts Manual shows up on Ebay. How useful are they to owners of cars (especially Cadillacs) of the 1930s? In particular, are they really useful in helping find things like ignition parts, water pumps, shocks, clutches, etc? I would not expect many body parts to be interchangeable, although GM apparently used a lot of small trim items between car brands and car year models.

Thanks for the help.

I find both my 1935-55 Master Parts List or and my Hollander's Interchange Parts Manual to be very useful for a variety of reasons.

Very useful, get one if you can,i have a 35-49 master chassis and body one,it has all the GM part numbers, very helpful in finding correct parts, especially in NOS stuff with the tags still on them.A must have for anyone who sources their own parts. Harveyb

I have one on CD that covers 49-59, and a paper version that covers 49-56.  Incredibly handy to be able to research part numbers, see exploded views, and figure out which parts are interchangeable by year/model.
