I don't know the car, but his other sale items point to a genuine eBayer selling things from time to time. I don't see anyone in IL in the Directory in that town.

Reasons to be cautious. Sellers feedback history includes only one for selling.   The wrong year listed. Wrong rear end ratio, ad shows no interior or engine shots. Could be a really nice car though if its above board.

Tim,
I suggest you contact the seller for more pics & info. Either have it inspected or go look at it yourself. Don't wait until the last minute.

I am in the process of getting more information as we speak.  The biggest concern was that the photos that this seller sent look vaguely familiar to ones I've already seen.  The other concern is that the seller said that the preferred payment method is bank wire....that usually screams scam in my mind.

This could be another. Wrong year,  Email coms only and all the guy is concerned about is how you get the money to him.

I guess I am missing the scam. He asks for full payment in 3 days? What else is wrong here? Except for the no reserve.

Some of you guys know I browse a lot I just spotted a 1920-21 Buick scam and the scams are always the same.  The scammer is getting s nice HD photo from a legitimate sale - they will never include a phone number ( or hardly ever).  Minimal content, one line.  And a price that is too good to be true.

You respond to the CL link and the rest is history.

When I contacted him about the year I had a reply direct to my email address, not through eBay message system. Don't know how he got my email?  He said he had to check and then confirmed it was a 48. How would he not know that? All he was then concerned about was how he was going to be paid. Only at the end did he ask what I would give him for it. All this while bidding is still going on.
I think most would be wary as no one would expect to get that car for such a low top bid. Hope no one gets caught.
