Yes, another what if question, been kinda slow here, cars are being tucked away, battery chargers connected, winter is upon us (though it was top down weather on Saturday here in Dallas).  Brian did just get the gold car - Awesome!  I'm a real fan of most anything of the 1970 model year.

So you've been wanting to add one to your stable, you have plenty of extra cash, room in the garage, the little misses says yes and you have the time, what are you going to get?

For me and not in any particular order:

'70 Fleetwood Brougham
'70 Eldorado
'34 LaSalle Coupe
'60 Eldo convertible.

or

A one ton truck and an enclosed trailer (including appropriate storage space) to bring the car(s) to the GNs.

I'd prolly lean real hard towards the '34, but (I assume), it would be a "challenge" to own.  then either of the '70s.

What say you and why?

'50 Cad S62 4-door
'53 Cad S62 4-door
'49 or '50 Olds 88 or 76 fastback.  (There's a nice one currently for sale on hemmings.com.)

After additional thought, I'm adding a '32 Ford Model B Fordor.

Trouble is I used to have a 2nd garage space in which I had a non-Cadillac car, but when I sold it the wife filled it up with her own stuff, so that space is no more.

You SIR are a most fortunate and lucky guy.

Having room in your garage and a wife that says
"OK Hon, add another" are a combination that's
hard to beat.

Your biggest problem will be "what do I want to
add to my collection".  There are so MANY choices.

If you're looking 70's get an Eldo convertible.
You can get a minty one for $20k or thereabouts that
you don't need to spend $$$ on restoration.  There
are many out there.  For example, in 1973 they made
about 50,000 of them.

Good luck,

To clarify, I'm not looking to add, just wondering what is on the mind of my fellow Cadillac owners.

Non-Cadillac cars are fine with me, some of he mods may not feel the same way I do though.

With that said, how about a 1970 Superbird or a 1970 Chevelle LS6?

Chris,

From the choices you suggested, you would really enjoy the 1970 Fleetwood.  They are available with no vinyl roof, and that would be my preference, and with the bench seat that goes all the way across to full shoulder height in rich dark blue leather (the brochure car), in the aqua fire mist color.

You already have a 2 door, so this will be nice when you travel with 4-6 people.  I have the full height bench seat in leather in my SDV and is so comfortable.

The closed car is the 20k option, and if you want to go to 75k, then a 1960 Cadillac convertible (I would add the Eldorado stainless body moldings to it).  And if you want to jump way past 100k, then the 1960 Eldorado convertible.

If you go non Cadillac, I really like the 1967 Lincoln 4 door convertible in dark color with light color top and interior.  Then the 1961 -66 Thunderbird convertibles are irresistible too (1966 with 428 and cruise is best).  The muscle cars are not that fast (a ten year old V-6 Camry will beat almost everyone of them) and they are not comfortable to drive.

I want this car-

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/cto/d/1948-cadillac-derham-60s/6721757687.html

It has been for sale off and on in the SS and on Minneapolis CL.  I have done a fair amount of research into who Charles A Ward is and was, and love cars with a back story.  The seats are hand made in tan cowhide with Ward's emblem embossed in them, there are holsters for guns (western theme) and so on. Plus it's a one off Durham 60S.

Ward was a very colorful figure, and there is a tie in to my wife's Uncle, who purchased a newspaper from the Ward's in the 1950's.  I don't want to bore you all with the whole story, but THIS would be the car if I had nothing in the way of ownership.

Geoff,

It's a few years before me, but beautiful. I recall this vintage as a used car when I was tike and budding car freak. Great two-tone colors. Many, many enjoyable miles

My Caddy wishlist would come first; 80-85 Seville.,  65 Fleetwood.  Anything from 1960 or 1940.  Any prewar Cadillac.

Non-Caddy, I admire the 1980 Z cars, esp black with gold trim.  Woody Wagoneers and old Suburbans are also on my list.  Not likely I will ever touch a Z in actuality, but if I were Jay Leno, I'd be all over it.

Unlimited budget?  53 Eldorado.
Limited budget?  66 Convertible.
Non Caddy?  3/4 ton diesel pickup.  Chevy or Ram.
