First time posting here.i have a 1984 cadillac eldorado 4.1 liter .my question is what pulley is underneath the alternator? Thank you

The Tassie Devil(le)

I would say it was the AIR pump.

Pushes air through the exhaust manifolds to aid in combustion of the exhaust gases to get rid of more pollutants.

Thank you the back of the bracket where the adjustment bolt broke is that replaceable?

TJ Hopland

Looking at a photo of the pump it looks like its just got through holes for mounting so replacing the pump won't likely help.

I don't remember hearing about those brackets being a problem so it must be a at this age issue or an isolated case where someone abused this one.   Its been too long since I worked on one of those to remember how big that bracket is.   I would not think it would be that difficult to replace since there is a lot of room around the front of the engine once you get that big fan/radiator shroud off.

Based on past history with those cars I would not expect the Eldo/Seville bracket to be different than the RWD cars so that may open up the options for finding one.  The transverse 4100's that started mid 85 for sure would be different.
