I have been a long time customer of Grundy Insurance for my collector car policy.

I just switched to Hagerty and there was a $1000.00 difference in the premium.
So I have saved $1000.00 for my annual premium and had excellent service.
I went down the list, car by car, and have the same agreed values and saved a lot of money.

I wanted to let my Cadillac friends know about this. Might be worth looking into.

I did not check other companies and it’s quite possible that there are some that may be a better value for your particular situation.

I had to make a time sensitive decision and with the savings I saw I just made a quick decision.

Maybe when the policy is due again I’ll check around some more.

The Ark is insured with Hagerty. Right now insured for 7K, $171.00
I'll be calling tomorrow to raise the value to 10K, what I have invested.
Every time I've called Hagerty for a free tow, the truck was here in less
than an hour. So far so good with Hagerty.

Hello all,

I've used J C Taylor for ten years now and have found them easy to deal with.  I have an agreed upon value for my 1960 Coupe de Ville of $22,000 and $8,000 for my 1966 Sedan de Ville with an annual premium of $245.00 for both.  That includes full coverage with everything except towing.  I have AAA towing for our family cars which also covers the vintage vehicles.  I appreciate what Haggerty does to support our hobby, but I couldn't rationalize the huge price difference.  It certainly pays to shop for the best rates.

Happy Holidays,

AAA is THE WORST!

I broke down in a 1948 Packard I was driving home from a show as a favor to someone.  AAA first said they would have a truck out there within an hour which is what they normally do.  After 90 minutes I called back and they said it would be another hour.  This was a really hot day and I was also in a 6 volt car with a dead battery and no cell charger.

After two more calls and two more excuses and being on the side of the road for over 3 hours, they finally told me that they could not find anyone that was willing to pick up a 48 Packard.  I explained to her that this car is much easier to deal with than a new Corvette or anything else that sits low to the ground.  This is an easy car to hook.  Didn't matter at all.  I had to get a relative to come and get me with my own trailer.  So they did absolutely nothing.

To make matters even worse, the other day after I took the towing plan from Hagerty, I called AAA to cancel.  My policy renewed in the summer so I figured I would be entitled to a refund.  No Dice.  Their policy is that they do not give refunds.  I am not done with them yet.

Hold your course Brian, that's what they want you to do is give up, squeaky wheel gets the grease!
I have been with Hagerty for quite some time now, and not just with Cadillac's, as with any company there is good and bad, but Hagerty has sure done a great job for us!

+1 on Hagerty.  I've been with them for over 20
years.

I've never had a claim. but a friend who had his '55
Eldorado severely damaged in a fire had them.  They
wrote him a check for $120k and didn't blink an eye.
It was a frame off, fully restored car.

Brian

I sure believe your tale of woe with AAA, Brian.

Some years ago, a front brake caliper seized on my daily driver, stuck in downtown Boston in early evening.   Finally, after almost two hours, a truck showed up....... and, despite my AAA card, said flat bed driver would not accept the AAA card --- even though I placed the call to AAA in the first place.

Then, after getting it home late, said truck driver insisted on CASH.   Fortunately, I had enough at home that night..... losing three hours in the process, though I was only 35 miles away.

So, I documented it all, and sent a letter of protest to the AAA headquarters for my area.   It was totally ignored!   You're right:  they're terrible!   What good is a AAA membership, anyway??

As I remember with Hagerty they will not tow a car from your driveway to a mechanic only road service.

I do have AAA also and they would tow my car in my driveway to a mechanic. So beware of that scenario. Hagerty only covers towing while away from home.

Hagerty will indeed tow from your home to a shop/mechanic, they flatbedded my '35 (Big Red) with a broken upper A-arm to my shop of preference 30 miles away.  I called them with a date and time and the truck showed up on time --- a little early even.  Also paid out my $10,000 claim after I was rear-ended at a downtown stoplight by a 40 something y.o. woman who was texting at the time.  It's a car, I drive it, Hagerty has taken good care of me.   :)

I just renewed my 2010 Challenger SRT8 with Grundy with max $500K liability, ZERO deductibles and more than generous agreed upon value for what I deemed to be an extremely reasonable price in Bergen County New Jersey.

Grundy was also excellent in paying a claim on my 99 Mustang. The adjuster arrived within days and check for 100% of claim shortly thereafter.

Excellent claim service received from Haggerty when I had a claim on my 78 Biarritz with Power T-Tops. The adjuster found the necessary parts and paid 100% with no hassle.

Regards,
Matt

Negative statements on both AAA and Hagerty.
AAA has towed my cars to where ever I wanted them towed, this is the Gold Card if it makes a difference.
Hagerty has towed my car from home to the shop and home again.
AAA is the first 100 miles free, Hagerty is the first 15 free. Its why I used AAA to bring the Ark home from Gillette instead of using Hagerty. AAA gives you 4 100 mile tows per year, Hagerty unlimited 15 mile tows per year.

If I am broken down in my own driveway I’m fine. I’ll fix it here.
NO mechanic touches my vintage Caddies. Only me or Joe Caristo.

I’d never leave any of my cars with a mechanic.

I have had Haggerty for over 20 years.  Always fair and the only claims have been a couple of tows.  I have had friends which have had to make claims, some big, and EVERYONE is happy with quick and fair results.  To me, the great claims side of the business is what really matters.  Saving ten bucks and then not getting a claim covered adequately is a false economy.

I am just stating what Hagerty did to me once so I called AAA. Not sure how both statements were negative.

As I read the agreement now it says towing from home is allowed so either it changed or Hagerty lied to me. When I had a non starting car in my driveway Hagerty said no, so I used AAA.

As far as fixing it in my driveway that's not an option for all of us. I do some items but my work garage is not at my house it is 6 miles away. So if I break down at home not much I want to do there, unless I want to trash my $10,000 driveway with oil and antifreeze.
