So I've been combing over my new 37 when I noticed I have a very very small puddle of antifreeze on my concrete.  At first I thought this was the overflow but it appears my water pump has a small leak from the impeller shaft.  Its not leaking badly but it worries me for long cruises.  Is this a common issue with these and what is the fix?  Remove the water pump and replace a seal?

Hi,
My opinion, there may be other advice out there. First try adding some water pump grease. It has to be water pump grease as it has wax in it. Regular grease is no good. Older cars has a grease cup on it and 37 just had a fitting to be used with a gun for water pumps. We always remove the fitting and put a grease cup on it that you can turn down occasionally. If that doesn't not work you will need to remove pump and replaces seals etc. They have two kinds of kits out there. Original type and new and improved. Don't over tighten the belt as it places a lot of stress on the water pump bushing.

...to add to Dave's advice if you elect to use a gun with the fitting in place be sure it is a manual low pressure and only give on shot and not until the grease shows as when doing chassis. Good Luck,     Harry

Following on Harry's comment, I actually take the fitting out and push the water pump grease in with my finger. Too much pressure with a gun, it will leak.
