I just found the listing. For some reason it didn't come up in my previous search.

Well according to those present, the condition of the '60 Biarritzes at B-J was marginal; this '59 appears to be a higher grade example. Plus it's Persian Sand with buckets and it's a '59 which is very different money than a '60.

I hear you Eric....I guess I've always been partial to the 1960 Eldos......But if this is "marginal".....I still take 3 of these please.

Is that the one that was converted to RHD at some point, then years later torn apart and put back to LHD?    That car has been for sale many times for many years.    Same photos each time its listed.    Those RHD conversions are very involved.   To think this car was molested twice then restored again decades ago.    It's an old restoration of a molested car.  Overpriced for what it is.  Who knows how much it will take to bring it up to a 100 point car.

Scot Minesinger

Dave is right, I remember this car on e-bay ten years ago same pictures.  RHD to LFD, restorations, and etc.  I will pass.

250 - 300 k is definitely doable for a 59  Biarritz but it would have to be a fresh restoration that has never seen the road .

Hard to evaluate condition by a single picture. I'm just going by what those have said who were there.

That's Jack Lemmon (Some Like it Hot ) in drag to her right with black head band 0:18 into the video Ha!

Some Like It Hot is a 1959 American black and white romantic comedy film set in 1929, directed and produced by Billy Wilder, starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon. The supporting cast includes George Raft, Pat O'Brien, Joe E. Brown, Joan Shawlee, and Nehemiah Persoff. The screenplay by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond is based on a screenplay by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan from the French film Fanfare of Love. The film is about two musicians who dress in drag in order to escape from mafia gangsters whom they witnessed commit a crime inspired by the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre. Despite Monroe's contract requiring the film to be in color, she agreed to it being filmed in black and white after seeing that Curtis and Lemmon's makeup gave them a "ghoulish" appearance on color film.[2]

I did a lot of fabrication repair work on it in the early 2000s . The return to Lhd configuration was done by me. It was quite straightforward as I was conversant with 59s. A complete replacement dash was used and all linkages and pedal mounts were used. The rh chassis rail had to be replaced as it had been boxed in the original conversion and the lhd steering box was used. In 1960 there were no rhd steering boxes. If it was “hacked” previously, I “unhacked it”.
Considering it was restored to be a nice driver and not a concourse contender, I consider it to be a nice driver. Yes those pics are all of 10 years old. That burgundy top pissed me off when it was put on. Needs a plum top.
It was a nice car, but I preferred my White with red interior full option bench seat Biarritz.
The prior owner and I had a falling out over non car related issues and no longer talk.  But I do have fond memories of cruising Sydney’s city lights and beaches in my younger years. We had some wild times in that car. Would make a great movie.
