Received my latest Self Starter magazine and was curious about the nomenclature on the front cover emblem. I understand the V16, V8, V6 and V12, but what does the 1, 4 and 8 represent?   Just curious.

1 and 4 represent 1 and 4 cylinder very early Cadillacs. The 8 is for the straight 8 in 1934, 1935, 1936 Lasalles.

Terrific!   I knew there had to be a logical answer. Thanks!
