My insulation is missing - can anyone send me a clear photo of what the factory installed insulation looks like?  I have seen some replacement material out there but cannot judge it's authenticity as mine is all gone.

Also are there any special seals along the bottom of the chrome hood center molding?  Like a rubber base that is on the hood or something?  Mine has none and is not fixed to the hood very well.  Water leaks in to the engine compartment.

Finally, anyone have good source for such insulation or rubber (if there is any).

Check out the video of the $45,000.00 1967 Eldorado on google they do show the hood insulation.

Thanks for the tip.  It's not molded - just a big mat and nothing special.    That is a beautiful car in the video.

The hood isulation on that $45,000 car doesn't look like mine. I believe mine is the original insulation and it seems to be molded. It's pretty grubby so I thought I would flip it over to see if I could put the clean side out rather than buy a new one to replace it. That's when I realised that it was molded and the quick fix wouldn't work. I've tried to post photos here and haven't been able to make it happen. If you would like some photos of my hood insulation you can send me your email address and I would be glad to take some pics and send them directly to you.

The hood insulation on my '70 Deville is molded, I think aftermarket ones are not.

I'm keeping my molded (and grubby) one.

It's molded at the radiator support, flat in the back.  When the hood is closed, it shuts off the air going under the hood, forcing all the air through the radiator.
