Wow!, cannot believe I'm the first to comment.

1969 was a nice year for Cadillac innovation and standard features:

1.  Disc brakes are standard
2.  No wing windows - more streamlined and youthful
3.  Headrest and the ultra cool high back seats
4.  Ignition and transmission lock.

The list goes on, and I remark:

Page 6, that is a 1970 Fleetwood, not a 1969.
Page 8, 376 hp, a typo here as 375 it was, OK I'm a bit of a PIA here
Page 18 through 27, only Nick's has the correct white wall pattern (look like what I have Diamondback radials) on the tires ON CARS LISTED with OWNERS.

Enjoy your Cadillacs!

The March issue is available online if you don't want to wait for the mail to come.

I also noticed I couldn't download a copy anymore.  I wonder why that is.

Thank you for noticing my tires! Yes they are Diamondback Radials. They ride and look terrific.

Nick,

Welcome, and have same tires on my 1970 DVC and 1970 SDV, they perform great and look authentic.  When I get the Self Starter March addition since 2016, I look for the white walls on this era of cars.  Reason is most have a single stripe white wall radial rather than correct dual stripe pattern.

The dual stripe pattern looks amazing and dresses up the car.  It bugs me that there is no tire the 1966-1971 Cadillac ownership members can buy that will not suffer a point deduction.  It is always interesting to me what members do about it to effect a cure.  The answer is nothing according to SS pictures this and last few years, which is same as me.

66 correct triple stripe repros exist 67-70 do not

I bought a set of Diamondbacks for my 70 DeVille. The wide stripe is too wide.
My 70 Eldo has bias ply Cokers that look more correct.

I have not been able to put any serious driving time into the 70 Eldo but I am curious to see how it rides on the bias ply Cokers. They were replaced by the previous owner.
He didn’t keep the original tires which is a shame. The car only has  15,000 miles on it.

Brian,

Diamondback recently fixed that too wide of stripe on the 67-70 Cadillac tires, and the wider stripe is available in the more narrow correct version.  However, I like the wider stripe better, and so do a lot of others, so since they went to the trouble with dies, molds and etc., they offer both.  My friend who showed his 1968 DVC bough the correct stripe pattern from Diamondback - same cost.

My friend back in 1966 could only get 6,000 miles out of his bias plys on a Toronado (on the front), so he switched to radials and got 40k miles out of front tires.  I kind of thought radials would be the most beneficial on a front drive heavy car like an Eldorado - let us know how they work out.  6k miles may be enough, and I'm sure you drive more gently than my friend with the Toronado in 1966.

As has been noted in previous discussions, you can get any width whitewall you want from Diamondback AND you can get it positioned where you want on the tire.

Me (yesterday, on 2/27/2019):  Please make up a set of 235R75-16 Michelin radials for me with a 7/8" white wall.
Aside ---- Yes, I ordered 16 ", these are for Big Red.
Them: OK, how far from the rim would you like the white wall?
Me: What is the usual?
Them:  1 inch.
Me:  Hmmm, what did I order the last time (in 2010)?
Them: Hang on just a minute let me check ------ last time you ordered the WW centered.
Me: OK, let's go with that, I like the way the old ones look.
Them: Yes sir.  Credit card number please.  Give us about 2-2 1/2 weeks.
