I will be purchasing a set of Diamondback Auburn Deluxe radials for my Series 52 Lasalle. The car currently has 4" width white walls. I think it looks great, but would a smaller size be more "correct"? It's a pretty big investment and I want to make sure that I am doing it right. (I know the irony of putting radials on and wanting to do it right, haha)

Thanks for the help!

According to the table in Appendix B of the 2018 Judging Manual, the OE tire size is 7.00x16 and whitewalls are 3.25” wide. DB Tire’s with a 3.25” whitewall would be the closest to the OE look with modern tires.  If you look at The Self Starter issues with prize winners from the GN or Fall Festival, LaSalles from 1934-40 and Cadillacs from 1939-41 should be that width. Remember that some while most will be 16” rims, the 41 will be on 15” Tim’s and therefore look ‘smaller’. As long as you are not worried about authenticity points for judging, I say get what you like the best, so you get the most pleasure out of your investment.
