Hello all,

Looking to find a reasonable shop or..... that  is familiar with rebuilding the flathead V8 346.
I need to have 4 of them rebuilt and one NOS engine checked out. I have most all the parts NOS or new for the rebuild. I just need someone with the talent.  Yes if you were wondering these are going back into 2 WWII  tanks.
I have been running down dead ends for awhile now on someone to do this, I have two friends that have done 6 or 8 of them over the years but just don't have time to do these. Help.....
Not overly worried about location, I will ship them in military engine containers to location.

There is a shop in Albany, NY that a friend (CLC member) used for his '41 flathead rebuild and was very happy with.  I can get you the contact information if you like.

One of the restoration shops I work with has good experience with these as car engines, and I just traded messages with the owner. He is interested, and is comfortable with the potential project. He has a copy of the tank engine service manuals. Shop is Speedwell Engineering, near Canton GA. Please PM me and I can give you contact details.

Dan,  Which model tank are you restoring?  Where is it and can I come and drive it?? I was in the 14th armored cavalry in Germany and they would not let me drive the tanks. Jesting of course.

I am restoring an M24 Chaffee and an M19 dual 40mm Anti Aircraft vehicle . The M19 is the same as the M24 just a little longer with the turret on the back. Thanks for all the help guys.

Doug Seibert is also an old friend of mine.  Having moved from the Rochester area a few years ago, I guess I had forgotten his Cadillac experience and especially his extensive flathead knowledge.

Dan in response to your question I was in the 14th during most of 1962, but I was a fuel truck driver.  I even rolled a fuel truck on night maneuvers. Felt strange to be upside down in the dark with fuel running through the cab.

Dan- I have used Russell's Automotive Fleet Service, owned by Russell Chandler for 2 rebuilds, a Ford 390, and a Packard 282. He knows his stuff. All engines he builds are bench run for a minimum of 12 hours to eliminate any problems with the engine. He's located in Longview, TX cell: 903 736 0339. Hugh Dean

Always wanted a tank!   I'm jealous AGAIN!   But anti-tank has the upper hand now.
There's a show on TV, by the one of the outdoor guys, and he features this, MVPA, so may want to get in touch with them.   They do shows and re-enactents, etc.   Can help with more than just the CADpower.
Actually, I was thinking about this the other day, they're CAD two-fers.   Vu Ja De?
