After 10 years of wanting one and 6 years restoring it after i found it I have had to finally say goodbye to my 37 Cadillac convertible coupe. My continuing ill health means all the cars have to go and after finally loosing my licence because of my condition the two seater is the least practical because I can take none of them out without a driver and there's only two seats, it also doesn't have the room for my disabled buggy.
It's a very sad day when your favourite has to go but I hate to see them not being used and I found a buyer who loved it as soon as he saw it, coincidentally, he owns my very first 41 convertible which I restored and sold in 2003.
Enjoy them while you can guys. nothing lasts forever.

Steve I'm very sorry to hear this but I'm glad to see that your car has found a new home.  Perhaps the new owner will be kind enough to share his adventures with you.  I know that's what I've done with my 37 when the previous owner had to sell it due to deteriorating health.

Steve - so sorry to hear about both your health situation and the sale of that fabulous car . I can relate personally to both issues . Just two hours ago , I cancelled my reservations for the 2019 Grand National . Four weeks ago I fractured my leg while helping a neighbor load his Mustang onto a ramp truck . I’ve been in a reclining chair ever since . Driving my cars will not be happening this summer . Also , for two years now , I’ve been toying with the idea of selling my 37 & 47 convertibles - that is until I take the car covers off and see how beautiful they are and think about all the time and research ( some of which you were involved with ) that went into restoring them . Then I back off of the idea . But , truth be told , they are simply not getting the use they deserve . They have to share good weather driving time with other cars . Perhaps , once I get mobil enough , I will get them to a good home . So I understand and appreciate your situation . Please take care of yourself . ... Paul Tesone CLC #6876

Steve,

Though we have never met I have come to admire and respect you and your vast knowledge since joining this forum 3 years ago.  I always look forward to your postings and am amazed that you have every detail of these of Cadillac/LaSalle at your fingertips.

I am so sorry to know of your health issues...which you have mentioned the past year or so. And....to let go of your treasured automobiles must be so painful.  Yet....we would trade all our material things for good health.

You are so right.  "Nothing last forever".  From about age 55( I am now 72) my wife and I follow our dreams.  We no longer put them off.  If we want to do it and can afford it .....we do it.  Just this morning my 9 year old grandson and I returned from a flying/camping trip in my Maule aircraft. We land at tiny, out of the way, airstrips and sleep under the wing. Cook over a small camp stove.  Each day is a privilege.

Keep us informed as time passes. You will be in my thoughts each time that I log in.

Thank you for all the kind words fellas. keeping hold of the last couple and occasionally finding drivers is what will keep me sane for now.

G'day Steve,

Sorry to hear that your condition is worsening, and it was great to meet you last year.

Pity you can't stick a Caddy engine into your Gopher, as the only thing holding you back would be where to fit the humongous fuel tank to supply the engine.

Bronwyn and I wish you the best.

Steve, I don't know you but I always enjoyed reading your posts. I can't really add to what has already been said, except that you still have us on the Forum, as your Cadillac connection. Clay/Lexi

Steve, I echo all the sentiments above. I am glad you found a good home for your '37. No doubt the new "caretaker" will enjoy the car. My best wishes to you for a turn around in your condition. It does happen, Keep the faith.    Harry

Been a good, long ride Steve. Stay comfortable out of that south-west English weather. Thanks for all your help.

So sorry to hear about your health problems and feel sad you've had to give up
your custodianship. You are a wonderful fountain of knowledge and I want to give thanks for sharing what it's taken you years to learn. Hope you'll keep on providing us with all that valuable information you've gleaned.
