I have a 1940 LaSalle convertible.  In front of the steering wheel on the dashboard underneath the instrumentation are two small holes.  They look like the place where some sort of emblem was supposed to be mounted.  Does anyone know what it was, and where would be a good place to start looking.

Just looked,

My 1940 5227(a Coupe) does not have any holes or emblem mounted there. Unless you are speaking of just below the dash on the bottom left where the heater controls are mounted.  Perhaps the convertible is different.

Might have been an aftermarket traffic light finder?

;D  Guess that eliminates the traffic light finder!  I missed the "underneath the instrumentation" when I read it.  Lovely looking car.

I have four percent of the world's supply of 5067s, and neither one has those holes. Can't even guess what a previous owner mounted there. Cars can't talk. They may have some great stories to tell.
