Brake Caliper Question

Referencing another thread, I put the rear coil springs in the car. While having plenty of time to look around under there, I noticed a sweating right rear brake caliper. No big deal, I'll replace them all. They are all original to the car as best I can tell. They are all embossed in the casting,  "Delco Moraine".

I ordered the calipers, pads and hub seals from Rock Auto. Three calipers were manufactured by Cardone, another, the right rear is a brand I've never heard of. Though it looks identical to the left rear. It had a tag on it with the reman date of 09/14. Okay, I can live with it.

But my question is... Would you save the originals and have them gone through or turn them back in for the $100 total core charge? My gut is telling me to keep the rears and turn in the fronts as they are available about anywhere. The rears are getting scarce, though you can simply use the fronts for the rear sans the E-Brake, but that's not a good idea as I see it. I use the E-brake on the Cadillac as well as my daily drivers. I have a 15o down-slope driveway and don't like that kind of pressure on the parking pawl. I simply don't trust them. Even parked in the level garage, I set the E-brake. Plus using it keeps the rears adjusted properly.

So, keep them or turn them in as a core?

Absolutely keep them.  I would go ahead and dismantle, grease the bore and plastic bag them to prevent future deterioration.  Put a tag to make sure they would get a complete cleaning/rebuild prior to any future use (grease + brake fluid is no bueno).  Get rebuild kits for them while you still can.  Given how clean the rest of your car is, I doubt there are any out there in much better condition than yours.

Looks pretty much like a done deal then. I've never rebuilt these rear calipers, but it's never too late to learn. The FSM has detailed steps in it.
