66 with 429, sm hose with internal spring coming from round metal housing at back of valley pan under intake. Goes to pcv, what is it called. This is not a calif. car

I don't think there were any emissions equipment requirements in 1966.  That might just be the pvc connector hose with an internal spring to prevent it from collapsing.

66 most certainly had emissions controls. The how/connection you are describing is the crankcase vent that conveys crankcase vapor to the PCV valve and the th the carb.

OK, so they had a PCV valve, which was already stated. I don't think there were other emissions control devices on the 1966 cars.

And the PCV valve helped with oil life and engine cleanliness as much as it reduced emissions.

If the 66 was a CA delivery it had a belt driven air injection pump with metal manifold style tubing to ports in the cylinder heads. Basically the same style set up we saw on all GMs from the later 60s on.

Hi,
the tube that comes from the valley pan is the normal engine vent. The hose ends in the carb spacer.
