You guys keep your old membership directories or you pitch the old one(s) and keep the most recent one?

I'm starting to accumulate them and wonder if there is a good reason to keep the old ones.

Thanks,

chris.

I'm been wondering the same thing myself. I've got them dating back to 2004.

On a rainy day, rip them apart and run them through the shredder. Too much information in there for the average idiot today.

You're right, they should be shredded...if discarded.

I have back to 2011 on my shelf. I probably have them all going back to 1998 but they must be packed away somewhere with the older self starters.

I have popular photography and modern photography issues to 1969-70 when the Canon F-1 first came out and world atlases from 1939,  even an old encyclopaedia dating to 1899, with an atlas volume. Manhattan and Brooklyn were very well developed back then but Queens was still barren.

With a quick look I have directories back to 1980, maybe earlier.  When did I join the CLC?  I don’t remember exactly.  Sometimes it’s interesting to look up old timers in the club to see how long they have been in the club.    I’ll probably leave them to the CLC museum along with the Self Starters if collected.

The new one is replacing the old one, I have no space to collect them.

I've got most of them back to 1961. I think they provide a valuable historical record of the club and don't really take up that much space considering other things I keep around so I will always hang on to mine. I just saw the $6 annual membership fee in the '61 directory and thought about all that has changed in the last 58 years.

Jason, where did you get them going that far back? Your CLC # indicated you joining somewhere in 1996-98. I know that old issues of the SS are available, or at least they used to be, but the directories, were (are??) they still available?

Lars Kneller, by way of extras from the CLCMRC. He knows I like that stuff. I've got all SS's from Feb 1961 forward and a few odds and ends from 1959. If anyone has the Jan 1961 SS's (or directories) and prior and are looking to toss them (or sell for a reasonable price) shoot me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com.
ps.
I joined the CLC March 1997. I bought my 1964 Coupe de Ville on November 13, 1996, marched into the 1st local car show that next spring (The Carolina Collector Auto Fest at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC) and asked everyone "Where's the Cadillac Club!?"  Luckily someone had a 1960 Cadillac parked in the back of the Jim Graham building and had CLC applications on hand. I was the easiest new member the CLC ever signed up!
