Hi
My next project is replacing the heater core on my '60 Series 62 with AC.
I have a new heater core and heater control valve and wondered if I will need a gasket as well.
Also, will part of the dash need to be removed to complete this job.

Thanks

Brent

I think you can do this job without removing the dash.
We did one in my garage on a 1960 with AC.

The hardest parts are finding and removing all of the necessary bolts and nuts on the engine side of the firewall. You should take lots of photos of the way that the cables are run and connected to the levers that move the doors insides of the air handler section of the blower box. There are a couple of things to check while it’s apart.
How are your vacuum actuators ?  All working ?
Also there is a heavy foam gasket that seals the box to the firewall. Someone may reproduce that if it falls apart when you take the blower box apart.

It was also difficult to dislodge the ductwork that is on the floor in the center of the floor that directs air flow to the rear of the car. An extra set of hands wil really come in handy if you have a friend to assist.

Thanks, Brian-appreciate the info.
Yes, a friend will be coming over this weekend to help with the project.
