Can I have the front end aligned on my Lasalle without the full weight of the body installed? Long ago when I assembled the chassis, I installed the front suspension with a string and a vertical level to get the wheels straight. But I know that is not the correct caster and camber. Now that I am driving it a little more I need to have it aligned. Should I wait until the restoration is complete?

Dave Shepherd

No, the suspension being unloaded will not allow any accurate settings.

Dave is correct. If you do the alignment now you will be doing it again when all the added weight goes back on:-(

Thank you. Next I'm going to restore and paint all the tailgate hardware. Then I'm going to build the tailgate. I just got a roll of dark brown cobra grain top fabric that is wide enough.
