Hi All, I am new here and this is my first post.  I recently acquired a 39 LaSalle 4 door. It needs new front rubber brake lines.  Anyone know if they are compatible with a later model ?  Basically what I'm wondering is if  it's worth trying to find them at a local parts house or should I go through a vintage parts supplier?  Thanks in advance!

If you have the original rubber line out.  You can basically match it up at a local NAPA.  I found matching it up is much more economical than buying from vintage parts suppliers. Which would be the same thing anyhow. You just have to know the end style and size and the length needed.
I also would rather have new rubber over dead stock old rubber, who know the condition?
Also note that there is a year range on most chassis parts in this case some part may go from 1939-1947
I see that 41 Cadillac rear brake line show a part number on rockauto
But you would have to check the spec. On the ends and the length and compare to 39.
Caddy daddy shows the rear brake line range is 39-47.  So up to you.
Sometime you can check and cross ref those part number with your local part shop and get the better price.  I see you can go as low a about 6.00 plus shipping.

Sometimes you can even check the number on Amazon and see if they have it with prime free shipping.

Hello Dexter, According to the Cadillac Master Parts Book, The front brake hose is the same on all Cadillacs and Lasalles from 1939 to 1949. The exception is 1939 and 1940 series 75 and 90. My book ends at 1949 so later years may be the same.

My 1955 Cadillac Master Parts Book shows the 2 front brake hoses for '39 LaSalle are the same as all Cadillacs up to 1955 and the rear is the same as all Cadillacs up to 1949.

Thanks to you all. I bought the three hoses from rock auto. I was in a hurry and they were the quickest.  The make was Raybestos. The brakes no longer drag.
